Our guides utilize western-style driftboats, rafts with rowing frames, jet boats, canoes, float tubes, and quality "loaner" tackle (rods, reels, waders, boots, etc.). They are extremely competent in regard to all aspects of the safety and proper use of this equipment. While many northeastern guides see driftboats as an anchored casting platform, we see them as a taxi to get us from one spot to another, a means for fishing while on the move, and only where necessary; a fixed casting platform. Unlike many independent guides who live an hour or so away from the water they guide; our guides live, work and recreate in the Kennebec Valley. Most have lived here their whole life. Some have been involved in commercial recreation on the Kennebec for well over a decade. They are also all avid (maybe “rabid”) fishermen. When they are not guiding, they are fishing – and almost always on the very waters they guide. As a result, their knowledge of the Kennebec watershed is absolutely unsurpassed… After visiting our shop, meeting our retail staff and guides, seeing our outfitting equipment, and experiencing one of our guided trips, we are confident that you will appreciate what we are doing.
